12-1-21   THOUGHTS

Prophetic words embedded in a Psalm. Words of a prophet, awesomely accurate!
Ps 22:1   My God, my God, why have You forsaken me?  Far from my deliverance are the words of my groaning.
Ps 22:12-18    Many bulls have surrounded me; Strong bulls of Bashan have encircled me.
13  They open wide their mouth at me, As a ravening and a roaring lion. 14  I am poured out like water, And all my bones are out of joint; My heart is like wax; It is melted within me. 15  My strength is dried up like a potsherd, And my tongue cleaves to my jaws; And You lay me in the dust of death. 16  For dogs have surrounded me; A band of evildoers has encompassed me; They pierced my hands and my feet. 17  I can count all my bones. They look, they stare at me; 18  They divide my garments among them, And for my clothing they cast lots.
Isa 53:3-11  He was despised and forsaken of men, A man of sorrows and acquainted with grief; And like one from whom men hide their face He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. 4   Surely our griefs He Himself bore, And our sorrows He carried; Yet we ourselves esteemed Him stricken, Smitten of God, and afflicted. 5  But He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; The chastening for our well-being fell upon Him, And by His scourging we are healed. 6  All of us like sheep have gone astray, Each of us has turned to his own way; But the LORD has caused the iniquity of us all To fall on Him. 7  He was oppressed and He was afflicted, Yet He did not open His mouth; Like a lamb that is led to slaughter, And like a sheep that is silent before its shearers, So He did not open His mouth. 8  By oppression and judgment He was taken away; And as for His generation, who considered That He was cut off out of the land of the living For the transgression of my people, to whom the stroke was due? 9  His grave was assigned with wicked men, Yet He was with a rich man in His death, Because He had done no violence, Nor was there any deceit in His mouth. 10  But the LORD was pleased To crush Him, putting Him to grief; If He would render Himself as a guilt offering, He will see His offspring, He will prolong His days, And the good pleasure of the LORD will prosper in His hand. 11  As a result of the anguish of His soul, He will see it and be satisfied; By His knowledge the Righteous One, My Servant, will justify the many, As He will bear their iniquities.
Mark 15:34   At the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, "ELOI, ELOI, LAMA SABACHTHANI?" which is translated, "MY GOD, MY GOD, WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN ME?"
Heb 5:7-9    In the days of His flesh, He offered up both prayers and supplications with loud crying and tears to the One able to save Him from death, and He was heard because of His piety.  8  Although He was a Son, He learned obedience from the things which He suffered. 9  And having been made perfect, He became to all those who obey Him the source of eternal salvation,

My Prayer:
O God, we behold your great love as we see its cost. It was the willing cost of grace and mercy and love.  May we truly comprehend this love and be lovers in all ways.  May we love your truth and the good news of Jesus as we tell it and show it in our lives.  In Jesus we pray     Amen
